Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about spray tans and Golden State body wash
Why do spray tans smell?
Spray tans use an ingredient called DHA (dihydroxyacetone) to create color on the surface of your skin. As DHA reacts with the natural proteins and amino acids in your skin, it can create a temporary scent many people recognize as the classic spray tan smell.
This reaction is completely normal, but certain products and changes in skin pH can make the odor more noticeable.
Will regular body wash ruin my spray tan?
Many regular body washes contain harsh sulfates and detergents that can strip a spray tan within a few washes. Golden State is sulfate-free and pH-balanced to protect your color.
When should I start using Golden State Body Wash?
Use Golden State right after your tan develops (typically 8–12 hours). Daily use keeps the skin clean without disturbing the bronze.
What’s the difference between Golden State Scented and Unscented?
Same gentle, pH-balanced formula. Scented carries a soft, fresh fragrance; Unscented is fragrance-free for sensitive skin.
Why use Golden State instead of other pH balancing washes?
Golden State is formulated specifically for spray-tanned skin: it cleanses without stripping color, protects pH, and avoids ingredients that accelerate fading.
Can I use Golden State Body Wash if I don’t spray tan?
Absolutely. It’s a gentle, pH-balanced everyday wash that’s great for any skin type, tan or not.
